- “How is the amount of my Elterngeld worked out?”Elterngeld replaces 65 to 100 % of your net income before the birth (§ 2 BEEG). At least €300, at most €1,800 a month.
- “Which income counts, and from which months?”For employees, the 12 months before the month of birth (§ 2b BEEG). With a business on the side, usually your last tax year.
- “What is the difference between Basis, Plus and Bonus?”Plus is at most half of Basis but runs twice as long. The Bonus adds up to 4 Plus months each if you both work 24 to 32 hours a week (§ 4b BEEG).
